I grew up on a farm. There, you quickly learn to make do with what you have or figure out how to create what you need. I picked up carpentry, learned to fix broken tools, and got used to spotting problems before they happened. Thinking in systems was just part of everyday life, long before I ever heard the term at work. That habit has always stayed with me.
I started my career as an editor at Rappler in Manila, where I trained with Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa in a busy digital newsroom. Working there taught me to be precise, focus on facts, and dig deeper when answers weren’t clear. I still use that editorial discipline whenever I approach problems now.
My career didn’t stick to a set plan. Instead, I just kept chasing the next problem. I started with copywriting, which took me into email, then lifecycle marketing, and from there into web, SEO, CRO, martech, and finally AI systems. I wasn’t just trying to pick up new skills. I simply followed each problem to its source. The work keeps changing because I don’t settle for surface-level fixes.
I work most effectively with teams that are open to new approaches and not attached to traditional methods.
When I join a team, I often challenge existing workflows, not to prove a point, but because I am committed to identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. This drive extends beyond my immediate responsibilities.
Every role I've had evolved into something bigger than I was hired for because I look at the whole system.
